Master Marcus Vinicius Di Luca

One of the pioneers of the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Los Angeles, Russia, and Slovenia, Master Marcus Vinicius Di Luica is a 7th Degree Coral Belt under Grandmaster Francisco Mansor.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Di Lucia began training judo at 5 years old and he quickly became a fierce competitor in Brazil capturing various championships and being invited to train at the world-renowned Kodokan Judo Institute in Japan. Di Lucia’s judo skills brought him notoriety and he was invited to begin training jiu-jitsu by close friends. Once he started jiu-jitsu, he never stopped, eventually becoming a high-level competitor in Brazil. 

In 1997, Di Lucia arrived in Beverly Hills, CA to be the grappling coach at the Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club. As an esteemed grappling coach for the most prominent MMA fighters, including 5 UFC champions, and head instructor of the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club, Di Lucia gained worldwide recognition. His success as an MMA and jiu-jitsu coach eventually led to him being a major influence on the establishment of high-level jiu-jitsu in Russia and Slovenia. To this day, the Russian affiliates of the Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club dominate Russian and European jiu-jitsu tournaments. 

Today, Di Lucia  is one of the very few 7th degree Coral Belts who actively teaches full time at his academy in Los Angeles, CA. Di Lucia’s influence goes beyond the mats and he has consulted law enforcement and military agencies in defensive tactics, produced numerous types of instructional media for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu including videos and DVDs, and taught jiu-jitsu and self-defense seminars worldwide. 

With over 50 years of martial arts experience, Di Lucia brings his students an encyclopedia of jiu-jitsu and judo knowledge which he grounds in “old school” tradition and practices. Di Lucia emphasizes the importance of jiu-jitsu as a means of self-defense, sport, and philosophy and his students gain a strong foundation in both stand-up and ground fighting.
